☆ about me

Spencer Nam Nguyen is an illustrator and multimedia visual artist based in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam. Spencer's art practices range from illustration, and printmaking to video, collage, animation and DIY. His work and ethics aims to promote self independent publishing, printmaking, accessible art and DIY culture as a means to strengthen the bridge between subcultures and empowering other minorities in the community.
He originally started his career as a substitute performing guitarist for the Vietnamese experimental krautrock collective Rắn Cạp Đuôi in high school - then joining Hà Nội based Internet 1.0-inspired multimedia Hip-Hop / Sound Collage band Mona Evie.

Spencer's works not only prioritize themes of young adult life, which most would agree is a trying time in a person’s life, but also as a socially aware, queer, Vietnamese youth in a time where that is not the ideal. 

He is currently working as a casual risograph studio assistant at We Do Good Riso while attending Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology as a final year studen.
